Is it only Romania now defending their elections from Russians?

Diana Sosoaca and Victor Ponta, two pro-russian politicians landing in Doha after fleeing Romania

As Russians go from country to country applying their new and improved hybrid election rigging model, it seems that Romania has just set the gold standard in how to fight back.

Having decades of experience living under brutal Russian oppression, Romanians understand that the stakes are high and that it’s much easier to keep the Russians from getting in, rather than getting them out once they’re already in, a fact that Georgia is regrettably learning right now.

Today the Constitutional Court of Romania annulled the first-round presidential elections which saw a little known pro-Russian, Călin Georgescu propelled from anonymity to victory in a period of only 45 days by a campaign of over 10,000,000 TikTok accounts and €380,000 in payments to social media influencers. Romanian authorities have declassified evidence that conclusively shows hostile foreign actors, likely Russia and China worked together to install this anti-NATO. Putin sycophant into Romania’s highest office. Georgescu has been quoted on a number of occasions openly stating intent to provide Russia with what amounts to a wish list. exiting NATO, cut all assistance to Ukraine and the usual.

The candidate is not unique. But the reaction to Russia’s blatant intervention into a sovereign state’s electoral process absolutely is. Weve grown to expect EU politicians to lay down at the mere mention of Russia, allow Russians to roll over our electoral processes, divide us with massive social media campaigns, committing acts of sabotage and arson on an almost daily basis all over Europe. Romania offered no words of “condemnation” or “gravest concern” while Russians steamrolled Romania’s election. No, they ACTED. Firstly, opening a criminal investigation, declassifying evidence for public view, and finally annulling the election via the Constitutional Court.

Resulting from these actions, pro-Russian politicians were seen today at the Bucharest airport fleeing the country. Romania has set the gold standard and all nations currently on Putin’s acquisition list should be paying attention.

The above photos show Romania’s two main pro-Russian politicians that were supporting the Russian-backed candidate Georgescu are seen here today, arriving in Doha after fleeing the country as the government investigates Russia’s rigging of the presidential election.
