Unlike Trump, EU Isn’t Putin’s Lackey

EU has rejected POTUS Donald Trump’s desire to appease Russian dictator and recognize Russian-annexed Crimea as official part of Russia.
EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas, who is also the ex-PM of Estonia, has made it clear as Trump’s team reportedly wants to roll out a plan to satisfy most of Putin’s demands.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has likewise rejected the idea of gifting Crimea to Putin, saying that while Ukraine may de-facto recognize the Russian-occupied territory as Russian-controlled, it will not officially do so.
“As soon as we start talking about Crimea, about our sovereign territories, we enter into a format of prolonging the war — and that is exactly what Russia wants. This is already the 12th year we’ve been at war. That is the answer to the question of whether it’s possible to reach an agreement with Russia over territories,” Zelenskyy said.
He likewise turned down the prospect of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant ending up in a neutral zone.
“The U.S. cannot operate the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant without Ukraine; our technical staff is needed at the plant. If we, together with the U.S., were to restore the nuclear power plant and generate revenue from electricity — that would be a reasonable scenario. However, there has been no official proposal regarding the Zaporizhzhia plant,” he said.
U.S. to issue an ultimatum to Ukraine
U.S. representatives are set to travel to London where they’re expected to issue an ultimatum to Ukraine, demanding that it recognise Crimea as part of Russia and abandon its NATO membership aspirations.
Meanwhile, Putin allegedly agreed to cease hostilities along the frontline and is purportedly not seeking control of four Russian-occupied – though to a varying degree – Oblasts, including Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhya, and Kherson Oblasts.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend the peace talks on the settlement in Ukraine, which are set to take place on Wednesday in London, Reuters reports, citing State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
Earlier, she had stated that Rubio would be heading to the British capital.
At a regular press briefing for journalists, Bruce said that U.S. Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is currently in London.
