Putin Trying to Fool Trump, says French Top diplomat

Russia’s Easter truce with Ukraine was merely a “charm operation” intended to win favor with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

In an interview with FranceInfo, he said that the truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, was superficial and nothing but a marketing ploy.

“The Easter truce he announced somewhat unexpectedly was a marketing ploy, a charm offensive designed to prevent President Trump from growing impatient and angry,” Barrot explained.

Ukrainian officials had quickly accused Moscow of violating the truce almost immediately – on as a many as 3000 times.

The latest attack came on the city of Zaporizhya, killing one person and injuring another 26, with Russia targeting civilian infrastructure.

Trump, who has been advocating for a negotiated peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, has grown increasingly frustrated over the lack of progress. His discontent has been evident, with reports that he has expressed being “pissed off” at Putin and has also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Putin confirmed Palm Sunday Attack

Despite initially lying that Russia never attacked Sumy on Palm Sunday or that it allegedly targeted military infrastructure, Russia’s ruler finally came clean, stating that the Russian forces struck a civilian facility.

According to Russian state agency TASS, the missile strike that killed 35 people in broad daylight, including two children, was a “retribution” as the target, the Congress Center of Sumy State University, was, according to him, used to “give award to those who committed crimes in the Kursk region.”

“They received their retribution – it was done to punish them,” said the Kremlin chief.

Ukrainian soldiers were forced to leave Kursk Oblast after making an incursion into it in August 2024 and occupying the city of Sudzha. The Ukrainian positions were severely affected during Trump’s decision to temporarily cut off military aid to Ukraine in March.
