Russian savagery on display in Kyiv

This morning at shortly after dawn, four days before Christmas, Russia targeted Kyiv with eight ballistic missiles. Ukraine’s Air Force reported intercepting all missiles; however, debris caused significant damage across four districts of the capital.

The Holosiivskyi district suffered the most, with residential buildings, offices, and a hotel damaged. Fires erupted as debris fell onto streets and rooftops. Critical infrastructure damage resulted in 630 residential buildings, 16 medical facilities, 17 schools, and 13 kindergartens losing heating amid cold December temperatures.

Non-residential structures in the Solomianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts also sustained damage. In the Pechersk district, the blast wave shattered stained glass windows of the historic St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.

Traditionally, and throughout its long and savage history, the Russian value system has run contrary to western values in which life is cherished and protected. Russians understand only destruction, theft and the barbaric savagery that has forced 90% of the country to live as though it’s still the 15th century, with 30% of the country still lacking essentials such as indoor plumbing. Today’s ballistic missile attack on Ukraine’s capital is on brand and expected as the Christmas season gets underway.
