Ukrainian Forces Advancing in Kharkiv Region

Ukrainian National Guard units, alongside other military forces, have successfully liberated approximately 200 hectares (494 acres) of forest near the settlement of Liptsy in the northern Kharkiv region, further pushing Russian troops away from the regional capital.

In a statement released on Telegram, the 13th National Guard Brigade “Khartia” announced the operation’s symbolic timing:
“By the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II, the Khartia Brigade liberated a forest north of Liptsy that the Russians — modern heirs of Nazism — had nicknamed ‘Berlin.’”

The brigade declared, “The Russian Nazis lost their battle for ‘Berlin’ in the Kharkiv region.”

According to the statement, the operation began in November 2024 and lasted five and a half months, conducted in coordination with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The reclaimed area spans more than two million square meters.

The open-source military tracker DeepState UA corroborated the Ukrainian advance, confirming that forces had restored positions near Liptsy.

“Thanks to coordinated efforts, we pushed the enemy farther from Kharkiv and regained control over a strategically important natural and tactical area,” the brigade added.

During the course of the operation, Russian forces reportedly suffered nearly 1,500 casualties (killed and wounded) and lost over 200 weapons systems along with 175 pieces of military equipment.

The initial breakthrough and establishment of a bridgehead were accomplished by joint efforts between the Khartia Brigade and Ukraine’s 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, named in honor of 17th-century Zaporozhian Cossack leader Kosh Otaman Ivan Sirko.
